PF’s Lufwanyama’s Parliamentary candidate Don Mungulube has launched anti-political violence football tournament in Lufwanyama.

Mungulube said sports in nature brings people together, no wonder he decided to have a tournament that will unite people ahead of the August polls.

“Football is played among people from different tribes and background; it is also a unifying factor, it also helps youths to be productive with their lives,” he said.

The tournament called the ECL Violence Free Elections Football Tournament was contested by four team namely Mine farm, Chinemu, Kambale and Mibenshi football clubs

Mungulube challenged the youths to desist from political violence and always remember that as in football there is a winner and a loser so as in politics.

Mungulube who is PF Copperbelt youth Chairman emphasized that PF youths are guided by President Edgar Lungu to never be engaged in any violence but always be tolerant toward people’s different political views.

“Youths that believe in the PF should stay away from any acts of violence, they should be tolerant, youths in the PF should know that tolerance is not weakness, because if they are peaceful, a better Zambia is guaranteed,” he said.

He said youths in the opposition have become vulnerable that is why a tournament was launched to bring youths together irrespective of their political affiliation.

“Youths should not be used as political violence instead of sponsoring them to commit violence let us come together and ensure that youths are kept from all bad vices,” he said.

And Chinemu FC coach Whiteson Chikwanda encouraged youths in the four football clubs to say away from substance abuse, as that is detrimental to one’s health.

“I want to urge our players in Lufwanyama to desist from political violence, that energy that one uses to assault opponents can be channeled to bettering each others lives and become a respectable resident and citizen,” he said.

He also thanked Mungulube for the initiative, which is aimed at bettering the lives of the local youths in the area.

And one of the players Honest Chikange that contested in the tournament thanked the organizers, saying it is a step in the right direction and the youths will benefit.
