Districts to conduct recruitment for teachers and health workers

By CHINOYI CHIPULU
Civil Service Commission Chairperson Peter Mumba says the commission will give power to all districts to conduct the recruitment exercise for health workers and teachers.

Mr Mumba said in the spirit of decentralization, Government wants people in districts to be at the center of the recruitment process for the sake of transparency.

This came to light when Mr Mumba paid a courtesy call on Copperbelt Deputy Permanent Secretary Daniel Kamenga at his office in Ndola.

“In the spirit of decentralization Government wants to ensure that people in different districts and Provinces take center stage in recruiting so that the process can be smooth and transparency.

“We are in the Province to give power to the districts to do the recruitment of civil servants that will be recruited this year,” he said.

Mr Kamenga, who is acting Copperbelt Permanent Secretary urged the Commission to consider confirming volunteers  in Public Institutions in the Province.

He said the people that have been acting on positions in public Institutions and would be motivated if confirmed for the positions they are acting on.

“With the move of decentralization by Government, confirming them on permanent bases will remove the  uncertainty that has characterised the public offices. In turn rendering good service to the people and Government,” he said.
