Kabundi South residents in Chingola are appealing to Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company to be executing its water disconnection after people have been paid.
And other complaint is that Mulonga Water officers dispatched to carry out water disconnections for non-payment of water bills lack customer relations.
Speaking during a ward meeting with Kabundi Ward Councillor Brian Banda the resident want to petition Mulonga Water to be disconnecting them around 10th of any month as opposed to 25th
Thomas Museba a resident said that the people are opposing the disconnection but dates should be adjusted to suite when the community has money.
“Mulonga should not be disconnecting us on the 25th, instead we want the date adjusted to 10th when people get paid and most of us don’t work but depends on other means to pay,” he said.
Mr Museba also complained that the behaviour of officers sent to disconnect water is bad and lacks respect for customers.
“We also ask the utility firm to change its schedule of rationing of water. We receive water between 02:00 hrs and 05:00 hrs but we would like to be receiving water between 05: 00 hrs and 08: 00 hrs. “Why should we be receiving water when we are asleep?” he said.
And Esther Sakala another resident said that Mulonga Water doesn’t even follow the policy of Panono Panono when disconnecting water even when subscribed to the same service.
But area Councillor assured the people that he would arrange a meeting with the people in the area.
At the same meeting the people told the Councillor to take action against a bar named Candle Light for noise pollution.
“The bar plays loud music as they put speakers outside during the day. When people get drunk the activities that take place are not good they just throw the beer parks and break bottles anywhere, some even throw in people’s yards,” they complained.
