President Edgar Lungu says developing rural areas is key to the country’s attainment of the vision 2030.
President Lungu says the construction of schools, hospitals and roads in places like Ikelengi District in North Western province is meant to improve the quality of life for the people in rural areas.
The Head of state says the works that are going on in Ikelengi are as a result of the cooperation that he has received from chiefs and the ordinary people.
President Lungu says his government is committed to working with traditional leaders to improve the lives of the people as demonstrated in Ikelengi and other parts of the country.
He says he has a duty to take development to all the corners of Zambia including those that did not vote for him.
He said this in a speech read for him by Presidential Affairs Minister Freedom Lungu when he addressed chiefs in Ikelengi District.
And speaking on behalf of the traditional leaders, Chieftainess Ikelengi said several projects have started moving since the President last visited the District.
She said works on the roads, schools and clinics that were promised by the President have since commenced.
She said this shows that President Lungu is a man of his word.
Chieftainess Ikelengi said chiefs and their subjects in the area have resolved to support the PF and President Lungu in the 2021 general election.
She said the people of Ikelenge are grateful for the support they are receiving from the government.
Meanwhile, President Lungu has donated a tractor to Kaleni Mission Hospital in Ikelengi District.
The tractor was handed over to the school this morning by Presidential Affairs Minister Freedom Sikazwe.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mr. Sikazwe said President LUNGU will give support to all the nursing schools across the country.
And speaking on behalf of the community, Peter Fisher said he spoke to President Lungu and he has promised to help in the setting up of a Trades school in the area.
Mr Fisher said the Head of state wants more empowerment programs for the youths to be introduced in Ikelengi District.
