Chief Kang’ombe of Nkoya people in Manyinga is pleased with the investment projects meant to uplift the living stands of his people and has pledged to support Government developmental projects.
Speaking when Manyinga Town Council Secretary Kate Mukonde paid a courtesy call at his palace, Chief Kang’ombe said his duty was to work with the Government of the day.
The Traditional Leader said that despite the pandemic, Government had continued to implement developmental projects in all provinces and cited the declaration of Manyinga as a District.
Chief Kang’ombe said the creation of the District had brought government services closer to the people.
“My duty is to work with the government of the day through the local authority. I am ready to support development and officers who are being sent to the District.”
He said that the local authorities and traditional leadership were partners in development.
Meanwhile, Chief Kang’ombe revealed that he has distributed over 1000 face masks and education materials to help combat the corona virus in chiefdom.
The Traditional Leader said that corona virus was real and stressed that it was everyone’s duty to prevent the spread of the disease.
And speaking earlier, Manyinga Town Council Secretary Kate Mukonde said she decided to visit the traditional leadership to update him on government developmental programmes and investment opportunities in the district.
Ms Mukonde said that it was government’s desire to work with the traditional Leadership to improve the living stand of the people.
She disclosed that a South African based company called Global Human Benefit Zambia had expressed interest in setting up a macadamia nuts plantation in the District.
Ms Mukonde said US $32.2 Million dollars was earmarked to be invested the project and would create employment opportunities among the local people.
