Defence Minister Davies Chama is the acting President as President Edgar Lungu attends the Elephant Summit in Kasane, Botswana.
Vice-President Inonge Wina is also out recovering in South Africa where she evacuated to for heart-related ailment.
President Lungu departed for Botswana via the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka this morning.
The Head of State was seen off by among others Chama himself, Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa, Home affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo, PF seceretary general Davies Mwila and his deputy Mumbi Phiri.
The summit’s objective is to explore better elephant management strategies and associated challenges.
