The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set Friday, November 4th, 2022 as a date to hold three Council Chairpersons and 18 Ward Councillor by-elections.
The polls will take place from 06:00 hours to 18:00 hours while nominations for the by-elections will be conducted on Thursday October 13th, 2022.
ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga said the various Local Government vacancies have arisen due to Deaths, Nullification of Elections and Resignations.
Ms Luhanga said all aspiring candidates in these by-elections will be required to pay non- refundable nomination fee as required for various categories.
She said candidates in the by-elections must also present certified copies of their Grade 12 Certificates, as a minimum academic qualification or equivalent adding that failure to do so shall render the nomination papers null and void.
