A 23 year-old woman of Luangwa District was attacked by a crocodile while she was fishing in Kakalo stream.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale said the deceased was identified as Everlyn Tembo aged 23 of Siawafumbi village in Luangwa District.

Mr Mwale said that  incident occurred on February 8, 2023 around 07:00 hours along Kakalo stream in Luangwa District.

He also said that brief facts are that the deceased while in the company of others were fishing at Kakolo stream and whilst there, a crocodile attacked and swallowed her.

“ Community members were alerted and immediately search for the crocodile was launched. On the same day around 23:00 hours, the crocodile was found and killed. The belly was ripped open, and only a thigh, a foot and intestines were found suspected to be for the deceased,” he said

Mr Mwale said that the police were alerted and the remains are scheduled to be buried today
