Criminals steals Zesco cables in Chingola

Unknown Criminals in Chingola have stolen ZESCO cables from a transformer that supplies power to the offices at the Office of the President and part of the old police camp.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said it is believed that the criminals dug and stole the 120mm x 4 core x14 meters worth K12950.

Mr Mweemba the incident occurred on January 24, 2023 around 02:30 hours

He said that the criminals dug the said cable, which was coming from the transformer to the medium voltage cable line which supplies power to the Office of the President Offices and part of the Old police camp.

In another related incident, Unknown criminals have stolen a three phase electric cable measuring 11 metres valued at K8, 250 at Mineral Link.

Mr Mweemba said that the incident happened on January 25, 2023 around 01:30 hours at Mineral link, next to mining haulage along the Kitwe-Chingola road.

He said that that on January 24, 2023 the company properties at mineral link  where left  intact after work and the company  premises was left in the hands of one security guard from pitbull security company from 18:00 hours to 06:00 hours.

Mr Mweemba said the guard who was assigned to provide security at the said company, when interviewed he said that he left the point of duty to fetch for firewood. When he returned, found that unknown criminals had cut and stole the electric cable.

The Copperbelt police Commander said the guard has been picked to assist with investigations.
