Criminals stealing from trucks in Chirundu nabbed

Police have arrested two suspected Criminals and among them a Councillor for Turnpike ward in Chirundu specialized in stealing from trucks along the Chirundu – Kafue road.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said conducted an operation at Mulyakapoka village in Chirundu district and managed to apprehend a suspected criminal by the names of Benard Hanyulu 26, of Shamikobo village.

Mr Hamoonga said when the suspect was interviewed he revealed that he only knew of seven tents which were stolen by Bright Mweene and six others.

He said Hanyulu also revealed that he had information that the seven suspects sold the seven tents to Thomas Ngoma 41, a Councillor for Turnpike ward.

Mr Hamoonga said Mr Ngoma was apprehended and one blue tent was recovered from his house.

He said the police have opened a docket of case of found in possession of property believed to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

Mr Hamoonga said that Ngoma has been officially charged and arrested will appear in court soon.
