CREDIT WINDOW FOR AGRICULTURE INPUTS WELCOME

The Agriculture Technical and Professional Staff Union of Zambia (APSUZ) is elated with the introduction of the credit window for agriculture Inputs by the Ministry of Agriculture.

It is gratifying to state that the facility is a very significant step in advancing sustainable agriculture, as it will enhance food security in our country.

Offering financial support to farmers and reinforcing the nation’s commitment to food self-sufficiency and economic growth is an indication that the New Dawn government is committed to making agriculture valuable to the citizens.

This initiative holds the potential to improve the livelihoods of many smallholder farmers and help our country reclaim its superiority of being an agriculture powerhouse in Africa.

As a union representing extension services in Zambia, we want to assure Zambian farmers and the government that the officers will be available to offer support to all government policies.

Our appeal to those who will get loans, FISP, and those going into production this year is that they should seek technical advice from the Agriculture experts.

Our Extension officers will be able to reach out to all the farmers and provide the best systems to use in various crops they will choose to plant.

“With this government initiative, we advise farmers wherever their Fields maybe to get in touch with the extension officer of that area and get free farming technological advances that best suit the location”

APSUZ further wishes to advise citizens based in urban areas to get back to their villages during the rainy season and plant even 0.5 hectares of maize or any other crop of their choice to help improve household food security in the country next year.

The Union will be glad to see more of the citizens getting into agriculture production during the forthcoming farming season.

Further, we would like to commend the Ministry of Agriculture for this facility which will go a long way in enhancing food security in our country.
