Covid-19 cases reduce by 30 percent- Health Minister

Minister of Health Jonas Chanda says the number of Covid-19 cases has reduced by 30 percent compared to when the second wave started.

Speaking in an interview, Dr Chanda said there is need for behavior change towards covid-19 pandemic if we are to fight it.

He said the variant second wave of the Corona virus is deadly, aggressive, and transmissible and it causes severe diseases.

Dr Chanda said that the people admitted to the hospital requires 70% high flow of oxygen to survive.

He said health workers are doing everything possible in the fight against the pandemic.

He said it is the responsibility of every Zambian to get involved in fight against the pandemic.

“Am happy the way some people are using social media when they test positive to Corona virus, to tell the immediate contacts to seek medical attention and that’s what we are encouraging,” he said.

Dr Chanda also announced that they have received 600 000 rapid test kit in order for people to access the result in good time.
“Let me happily announce that we have received 600 000 test kit and let me also warn especially the health workers that if anyone found selling these in the chemist will face serious consequences, “he said.

He also said that with the coming of covid-19 vaccines him and the Minister of Finance will be the key players.
