Over 300 health professionals are in Kafue District to conduct screening and targeted testing for Covid-19.
Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) Director Victor Mukonka says the health professionals have been mobilised from Lusaka, Kafue and Chinkankata.
Professor Mukonka explained that some of the health professionals will sensitise communities on the prevention of COVID -19.
He said that the other teams are conducting contact tracing, while others are screening and testing at Health facilities.
Professor Mukonka said about 7 health facilities have been designated to test for Covid -19 in the District.
The Director also said the Health professionals are going home to home checking for those with symptoms of covid -19 and take them to designated Health facilities for testing.
In a separate Interview, Christopher Kamugisha who is Coordinating Emergency Operations in Zambia, said the World Health Organisation is offering technical support which includes how to control, prevent and manage cases of Covid -19.
Dr Kamugisha also said WHO is helping Zambia with logistics, funding, Personal Protective Equipment , face masks and hand sanitisers among others.
Kafue has so far recorded three cases Covid- 19 which necessitated President Edgar Lungu to enforce a restriction on movements for the District.
