Livingstone High Court Judge Catherine Phiri says the court endeavors to deliver timely justice as it remains the desire of adjustors to provide a service that meets those expectations of the general public.
Speaking during the ceremonial opening of the Livingstone high court, Justice Phiri said that even though the Work load is immense, they are committed to ensuring that trust is fostered, through empowering those seeking legal recourse without fear.
Justice Phiri said that they is an urgent need of capacity building for stakeholders in the administration of the children’s code number 12 of 2022 code
And Guest of Honor Constitutional Court Deputy President Arnold Shilimi Called for introspection in all high courts so that residents can regain back the confidence in the Justice system.
Justice Shilimi added to this effect all justices not performing to expectations are being called to order so as to enhance the case management system.
He also said that the Courts must remain impartial and work according to the ethics stating that judges should be left to decide on cases accordingly irrespective of who is involved.
In Livingstone’s high court first criminal session of the year, Justice Phiri heard the case of 28-year-old Hebert Mulowa of Namwala district who plead not guilty to the case of murder, where he is accused of murdering his wife and her boyfriend in an incident that happened in 2022, the case has since been adjourned to January 17th 2024 for further hearing.
