Police in Mansa have arrested a couple for alleged theft of 12 boxes of medicine from the District Health Office.
Evans Chibwe 34, a driver at Mansa District Health Office and his wife Kasamwa Kasamwa 27 of Chipushi Village, where arrested on 13th May, 2018 around 2030 hours.
Police Public Relations Officer Esther Katongo confirmed this in a statement.
Ms Katongo said the suspects were arrested as they were leaving the scene of crime after Police intercepted their motor vehicle Nissan Serena registration number BAB 7208.
She said the police also recovered 12 boxes of Coartem tablets valued at K29,376.00.
Ms Katongo said the driver has been charged with Theft by Public Servant while his wife is charged with Theft and both will appear in court soon.
She said the guard identified as Keterson Kaonga who was working on the material day at the premises who connived with couple is on the run and police have launched a manhunt.
