Rainbow Party Deputy National Spokesman Humphrey Kabwe says corrupt Permanent Secretaries are a Source of Corruption and Fund Mismanagement in Ministries.
Mr Kabwe said the Auditors General report which has revealed the mismanagement of Covid-19 funds by the Ministry of Health under the watch of the permanent Secretary makes sad reading.
He said the Permanent secretaries are the financial controlling officers.
Mr Kabwe said this scandal is unacceptable and as a party demand for immediate investigations.
He said those responsible should be brought to book.
Mr Kabwe said the PS has failed to protect public funds he should resign immediately on moral ground.
He said the controlling officer is supposed to be safeguarding public funds but the opposite has being happening in the ministry.
Kabwe has challenged the Anti-Corruption Commissioner (ACC) to wake up and quickly move in and investigate the entire Ministry of Health.
He said his is appealing to President Lungu to immediately retire most of these permanent Secretaries and subject them to investigation.
