Police in Mansa have charged and arrested a Correctional Officer for shooting a 19-year-old man whom he suspected for a thief.
Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale said that Frederick Chishimba 31 has been charged with the offence of attempted murder.
Mr Mwale said that on April 9, 2021 at 19:30 hours, Chishimba shot at Pathias Bwale whom he suspected of being a thief.
He said the incident occurred at Regional Correctional offices in Mansa.
Mr Mwale said the victim sustained a bullet wound on his left foot and the suspect is in police custody awaiting court appearance.
