Police in Lusaka have arrested three people for allegedly swindling NAPSA Directors of their money amounting to K600, 000 on pretense of having land for sale.
The suspects from a law firm called Marshal Chambers obtained money by false pretenses from five Directors at National Pension Schemes Authority (NAPSA) on pretext that there was Land on sale.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said that the Directors received information that there was Land for sale at Baobab along Kafue road, between July 16 and 23, 2019,
Ms Katongo said according to the information the sale was spearheaded by Marshal Chambers, a Law firm headed by Germano Mutale Kaulungombe.
She said a down payments of K100, 000 each complainant except for one complainant who paid K200, 000 for two plots bringing the total amount to K600, 000.
Ms Katongo said investigations revealed that the land in question belonged to Nyimba Investments and had not been offered for sale.
She said the three suspects identified as Germiano Mutale Kaulungombe, Stanley Tembo and Leonard Mapulunga Nyoni have been apprehended for obtaining money by false pretences.
Ms Katongo said the suspects are detained in police custody and will appear in Court soon.
“We therefore appeal to all those that could have been swindled in respect to the said Baobab land to report to the Police,” she said.
