By JOHN SAKALA
Police in collaboration with the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Friday, February 15, thwarted corruption attempt by a man of Ndola.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said the incident happened at 15:30 hours at Kasama Traffic Office.

“This in a case in which Albert Nkonde 36, of Ndola was arrested for attempting to bribe Zambia Police Traffic officers with a K5,000 cash to have his three Toyota Sprinters motor vehicles registration numbers AIC 145, AIB 5309 and AOB 1137 released by Police.

“The vehicles were impounded by traffic Police officers on February 2, 2019 at 08 00 hours in Kasama for the offence of Affixing false Tockens (discs) contrary to the Road Traffic Act no. 11 of 2002 and the drivers ran away abandoning the motor vehicles,” she said.

Ms Katongo said Nkonde could have used the same amount K5, 000 to do what was right which is to pay for Road Tax and finess to the Road Transport and Safety Agency.

She said K5, 000 was more than enough to for Road Tax and Fitness for the three vehicles for the whole year.
