The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says it will only consider the submissions made by stakeholders in December 2019.

Speaking in Ndola today when he officially opened the 2019 provincial delimitation sitting, ECZ Chairperson, Esau Chulu said the finalization of Delimitation process is governed by relevant provisions of the constitution and the electoral process Act.

Mr Chulu said the exercise is an opportunity for the commission to relocate some polling stations that are in unsuitable places.

He explained that the Delimitation exercise will also help ECZ to realign some of the polling district boundaries in order to make it convenient for electorates.

And speaking at the same occasions, various District Electoral Officers(DEO) made presentations on behalf of their districts, with Ndola proposing for the creation of two more constituencies.

Meanwhile, Luanshya DEO Timothy Mambalakata submitted that stakeholders in the district had agreed that there was need to create one more constituency where as Kitwe had proposed for the addition of two constituencies while Mpongwe is proposing for one more constituency.

Masaiti DEO Emmanuel Chilombo presented that two new constituencies should be added.

The districts justified the need for new constituencies to the growth in population among others.
