Copperbelt Patriotic Front (PF) Chairperson Nathan Chanda has thanked Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa for embracing some erring members of the party in the district.
Mr Chanda has urged members to have a big heart Mr Nkhuwa.
Chingola PF executive was facing internal wrangles, mostly impacted by finger pointing with some civic leaders threatening to pull out.
This made the Copperbelt Provincial PF executive to convene a meeting for the structures of Chingola to reconcile members.
Speaking today in an interview with The Independent Observer, Mr Chanda said there is no club or association which can exist without misunderstandings.
He said what is vital is how misunderstandings are resolved because there is no problem that is insurmountable.
He said friction will always exist where there is more than one person.
During the meeting he got some information that some members were not in good books with Mr Nkhuwa and were fighting among themselves.
This is a matter which has been iron out as of now.
Recently, Mr Nkhuwa met both Chingola Constituency PF Chairperson Richard Mutale and Chingola Constituency Chairperson for women wing Regina Kabuswe in the presences of the District PF Chairperson Charles Musonda to find a common agenda.
It is this meeting which has cheered Mr Chanda saying the two Members of Parliament of Chingola, Chali Chilombo of Nchanga and Mr Nkhuwa of Chingola are been helpful in harmonizing the aggrieved parties even though their names were mentioned of having an hand in this matter together with Mayor and the DC.
“Such fatherly heart from Mr Nkhuwa will help to prosper the party so that we can match as one united force to ensure that President Edgar Lungu gets the much needed votes in 2021. I will advise all the members in the party structures to give all elected leaders space so that they can work freely and properly,” he said.
“I want to advise members in Chingola and Copperbelt Province at large, that they must know and keep their lane. If you are a civil servant stick to your lane rather than start forming shadow structures of the party. With elections you only enter through a ballot and not through the window. To civic leaders, mayors and parliamentarians let us respect each other and work as one team for the smooth running of the party,” he said.
He said when he visited Chingola, members committed to peace agreement but there are few who haven’t submitted their commitment agreements.
He presumed that the five who haven’t submitted could be behind the confusion in the district.
Mr Chanda said today Friday, April 24, 2020 is the last day in which to make the submission of the peace commitment agreement.
“We come one by one and failure to which, those that will fail to submit shouldn’t cry when we crack a whip of discipline because is very important in any given organisation,” he said.
“Let’s help our elected leaders the mayor, Members of Parliament and Councillors to deliver development to the people of Chingola and let’s also have a heart for the President and the party,” he said.
