A female police Inspector attached to Zesco has been shot dead by ex-husband after a marital dispute.
Charity Jikumbi 39, was shot dead by her former husband after she went to her former home to pick up a wardrobe.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said the fight ensued afte Charity, a Police Officer attached to Zesco in Kafue went to Lusaka to pick a wardrobe.
Ms Katongo said during the fight her husband Kenneth Makina 42, of Cedar road, Woodlands picked his 9mm pistol and shot his wife four times.
She said another bullet hit the landLord on the right thigh and he is recieving treament at University Teaching hospital.
“Making, a teacher at Nyumba Yanga Secondary School reported himself to Police at Woodlands Police station after he shot dead his wife.
“This ocuured today February 23, 2019 at about 08:10 hours. It is believed the two were on separation. Charity was pronounced dead on arrival at UTH. A pistol was recovered and Makina is detained in Police custody. Body of Chariry is at UTH mortuary,” she said.
And University Teaching Hospital Public Relations Officer Natalie Mashikolo has also confirmed the incidence to The Independent Observer.
“The would like to confirm that this morning around 10:00 hours the hospital attended to a victim of a gun shot wound by the name of Gaston Kapotwe of woodlands Cedar Road who was shot on the right leg.
“He has been admitted while the body of Charity Jikumbi is in UTH mortutuary,” Ms Mashikolo said.
