Construction Worker Stabbed to Death in Chililabombwe

A 29-year-old employee of Hounding Construction Company, subcontracted by Lubambe Copper Mine, was stabbed to death by a fellow worker following a dispute.

The incident occurred on December 3, 2024, at around 23:30 hours at the Lubambe Copper Mine camp in Chililabombwe.

According to Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba, the victim, Peter Tembo, 29, and the accused, Lackson, 31, were both employees of Hounding Construction Company and resided in the same camp within the mine.

The dispute between the two workers escalated into a fight, and Lackson allegedly stabbed Tembo with a knife, inflicting a deep cut wound on the right side of his chest.

Tembo was rushed to Kakoso Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Lackson was apprehended by their workmates and taken to Chililabombwe police station, along with the deceased.

He was later admitted to Kakoso Hospital after being beaten by an angry mob, sustaining a swollen face.

The police have opened a docket and made an arrest, and a knife has been recovered as evidence.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at Kakoso Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem and funeral proceedings.
