COBUSU Finance Minister arrested for alleged theft of K95,990

Police in Kitwe have arrested Copperbelt University Student Union (COBUSU) Finance Minister  Bright Chanda for alleged forgery and Theft of  K95,990 from the COBUSU account.

Copperbelt Deputy Commissioner Bothwell Namuswa confirmed the development that Chanda 25, of H/No 318 Francis Mukuka Mufulira  was one of the only two signatories for the account.

Mr Namuswa said Chanda is alleged to have forged the other signature for the Dean of Students Dr Alisala Mulambya who happens to be the other signatory.

He said the development occurred between March 3, 2020 and June 19, 2020 at Zanaco Kitwe business center in Kitwe and Zanaco Manda hill Lusaka.

Mr Namuswa said investigations into the matter have continued while the suspect remains in police custody
