CNMC reluctant to delivery black mountain

Luanshya Copper mines Spokesperson Sydney Chileya has said management is not willing to share the slag damps as they are currently supplementing operations.

He said the Minister of mines Richard Musukwa had requested the mine management to consider the slug damps with the youths in the district.

Mr Chileya said management was not willing to accept the suggestion as the mine management has no authority to give away any assets.

He said the Minister was advised that only shareholders have the authority to give away assets off the mine.

Mr Chileya said is was suggested that government being a shareholder CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines plc through ZCCM IH who can then bring up the issue during quarterly board meeting.

Yesterday Government through the Minister of Mines Richard Musukwa called on management at Luanshya Copper Mine on the Copperbelt to surrender the dump slags popularly known as “ Black Mountain” to vulnerable youths in the district.
And Chief Government Parliamentary whip Steven Chungu said the development would ‘ resurrect’  the town which has undergone economic misfortunes in recent times.
