Chingola Municipal Council has disinfected Council Library and the Central Business District area in a tender to control Covid-19.
The Council under the Public Health department yesterday carried out the operation in the said public places as the spaces is seen as super spreaders of the pandemic.
Assistant Public Relations Manager Nambela Kyombela said that the Council noted that with the closure of Schools, pupils may frequent use the Library hence the need to disinfect the place and making it safe for other users.
Ms Kyombela advised all the Library users to observe social distancing and covid-19 health guidelines as they enjoy the service.
She said Town center market and Bus stations have not been left out in the operations as those are the places with many people.
“With the rising numbers of cases of Covid 19 country wide we are going to continuously disinfect public places in order to help control and prevent the spread of the virus in the community.
“The municipality has noted that these disinfection operations will simultaneously be held with other sensitization programs the council has over the prevention of the pandemic, “she said.
The Council has called on all Community members to continue to adhering to Covid-19 health guidelines as prescribed by the Ministry of health.
The Municipality has further urged all traders and transport operators to strictly adhere to masking up before the law visit them.
Ms Kyombela said that the Local Authority will continue to disinfect public spaces and ensure that everyone co plies with all covid-19 health guidelines.
