Former Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili has called on the church in Northwestern province to continue praying for peaceful campaigns ahead of the August 12, General Election.
Reverend Sumaili said that Church leaders should also counsel candidates competing for various positions to be tolerant of one another and maintain peace .
ZANIS reports that Reverend Sumaili said the church has a spiritual duty to guide political players on critical matters .
She said this in Solwezi during an interaction with members of clergy of Solwezi and Kasempa Pastors Fellowship.
And, Solwezi Pastors’ Fellowship chairperson, Miselo Musonda said the clergy will continue to support the government of the day.
Reverend Musonda said the church will also support progressive ideas which the government is propagating in the country
