Chiwenzi Netball team has scooped the 2019 regional netball championship.
The team which is being sponsored by Chingola Municipal Council has maintained its good performance at regional level coming out second for two consecutive years 2017 and 2018 respectively and this year are champions.
Chiwenzi Head coach said that it was not easy to beat the other 17 teams in the competition as there were also other best teams.
He said that it took a lot of hard work and committment despite other challenges being faced by the team.
Speaking when the team presented the trophies to the sponsors Jimmy Mukumbi said the team needs some motivation to keep the outstanding performance going.
He said some players have completed school and needs support to further their education and businesses.
Makumbi said the team also need some training attires which are lacking at the moment.
He has appealed to the council management to work on the bus they had been which has been down for some time now and also to be releasing the money in good time when there is a trip.
Chingola Deputy Mayor Kennedy Simpasa who received the trophy on behalf of the council said the team has brought pride to the council with the trophies for the past three years.
Simpasa said that the team would be taken care of as they deserve it.
He said the challenges put forward like the netball kits and jerseys would be tabled in the council chamber and before the end of this year they will be taken care of.
Simpasa has assured the team that council is moving forward to reach a resolution to give incentives that will uplift players not just as players but as mothers also.
