Police in Chingola have arrested a-22-year-old man who has allegedly raped his 40-year-old mother.
The victim was also badly beaten and unknown object is alleged to have been used to inflict the injuries on her body by her son.
The victim is admitted to Chawama Health Center, and the condition is said not to be stable.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Sharon Zulu confirmed that police received a report of rape from a female Juvenile that her mother was badly beaten and raped by her elder brother.
Ms Zulu said the victim sustained a swollen face, painful vagina and general body pains.
She said that brief facts are that the female juvenile, who lives along the same road with her Aunt, went to visit her mother to do some house chores as per routine.
Ms Zulu said the girl found the door open and her mother was lying unconscious in the sitting room half naked, while her elder brother of the same address was standing near the bathroom naked.
“She asked him as to what he had done to her mother, the suspect chased and threatened to kill the sister, but she ran away and called for help. People went to the house and apprehended him, and took him to the Police Station, while the victim was rushed to Chawama Clinic,” she said.
She said the police visited the crime scene and confirmed the incident after discovering the disarranged bed which showed that there was struggling.
Ms Zulu said the victim is admitted to Chawama Health Center, and the condition is not stable and a docket for the case of Rape has been opened and investigations instituted.
The incident occurred on October 6, 2022 between 09:00 and 10:00.
