Chingola Secondary School Alumni (CHiSSA) has handed over a one by four rehabilitated boys ablution block to Chingola Secondary School.
Speaking during the handover ceremony today at Chingola Secondary School, CHiSSA Chairman Luke Alutuli said that it is important for past students to give back to the school.
Mr Alutuli said that this is the second time ChiSSA is donating to the school after they handed over the girls’ rehabilitated ablution block in 2019.
He said that they pledged commitment to rehabilitate the boys’ ablution block which has been fulfilled.
Mr Alutuli said CHiSSA is interested in bettering the physical infrastructure and general appearance of the school.
“The boys ablution block was exclusively financed by CHiSSA members, as past pupils of this school it is our conviction that a good learning environment has a direct impact on the well-being of students, it is undeniable fact that a good ablution is a motivation to the learners, such is what compelled the Alumni to rehabilitate the ablution blocks,” he said.
Mr Alutuli also urged former pupils of Chingola Secondary to join CHiSSA so that efforts to improve the school appearance and better the learners’ interest.
“I want to encourage pupils to continue working hard, and ensure that you produce good results, it disturbing to see Chingola secondary school producing bad results, this school was known for its excellence I believe it is still that, let us remain disciplined and obedient,” he said.
And Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe who was the Guest of Honor pledged to work with CHiSSA to ensure that the face of Chingola Secondary is transformed.
Mr Kang’ombe echoed that President Hichilema places importance in education and is equal to the task.
He also appealed to the teachers at the school to refrain from sending pupils back home whose parents cannot afford to pay school fees on time.
Mr Kang’ombe said that this will help supplement government’s efforts towards free education.
And Chingola District Education Secretary Noah Simalunga thanked CHiSSA for rehabilitating the ablution block at the school.
Mr Simalunga called on the pupils to be hard-working so that a bright future is guaranteed.
He said that discipline and obedient should be fundamental among the pupils, urging them to safe guard the property with care.
Speaking at the same event, Chingola Acting District Commissioner Maximillan Makasa said that CHiSSA’s support to the school is commendable.
Mr Makasa said that Government is concerned with the education system, because its desire is to have quality education.
He also called on the cooperate world in the district to come on board and help CHiSSA in their quest to better Chingola Secondary School.
And Chingola Secondary School Head Boy thanked CHiSSA for building the ablution blocks and pledged that the pupils will safeguard the property with care so that it stands a test of time.
