The Chipolopolo boys showed they mean business with a 9-0 demolition of Division Two outfit Airport Warriors as they warmed up for the March 23 Egypt 2019 Africa Cup of Nations formality match against Namibia at National Heroes Stadium.
Green Eagles striker Tapson Kaseba netted a hat-trick while Red Arrows’ Bruce Musakanya accounted for a brace with Roger Kola, Ernest Mbewe, Lameck Silwaba and Mike Katiba scoring a goal each.
With caretaker coach Aggrey Chiyangi promising fireworks in the clash against Namibia, players will be psyched for high performance.
Chiyangi shuffled the players around with a try-out of a Moses Phiri and Rogers Kola striking partnership while Mike Katiba and Benson Sakala partnered in midfield.
A central defence partnership of Adrian Chama and Isaac Shamujompa was completed with Lawrence Chungu and Jimmy Chisenga as wingbacks.
Silwaba and Mbewe were deployed as wingers in the first session.
The team has broken camp but will regroup on Sunday in the final stretch that will see foreign based players also part of the set up.
Zambia will play Namibia on March 23 at National Heroes Stadium to conclude their Group K race.
The Chipolopolo boys are stuck at the foot of Group K on four points after managing only one win, three losses and one draw.
Zambia started the Africa Cup of Nations under Wedson Nyirenda who oversaw one fixture before Belgian Sven Vandenbroeck took over the reins and oversaw four fixtures before partying ways with the association.
Chiyangi will finish off the campaign in a formality match on home soil/FAZ.
