Chipoka Mulenga Launches Food Security Pack for Fipuya Farmers

Chingola Constituency Member of Parliament, Chipoka Mulenga, has launched the Food Security Pack for Fipuya farming block, providing essential inputs for winter maize and vegetable cultivation.
The initiative aims to support farmers in mitigating the effects of drought experienced during the last farming season.
Dorothy Chileshe from the Department of Community Development explained that the Food Security Pack Programme, under Wetland Cropping, highlights the Emergency Wetland Cropping initiative.
Ms Chileshe said the program distributed farming inputs, including D Compound and Urea fertilizers, to 50 farmers, and another 50 farmers received fungicide, calcium, and Urea fertilizers for vegetable cultivation.
She said in Fipuya, the program has 100 beneficiaries who have been trained by the Crops Officer from the Department of Agriculture.
Chingola District Commissioner, Raphael Chimupi, emphasized that the Food Security Pack Programme was initiated by President Hakainde Hichilema and that the Fipuya beneficiaries are among the 600 beneficiaries in the district.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Mr. Mulenga stated that President Hakainde Hichilema introduced the initiative to provide Food Security Packs for farmers capable of growing crops in winter.
Mr Mulenga urged the beneficiaries to make the most of this opportunity, highlighting Chingola’s potential to lead in alleviating poverty and hunger in the country.
He also called on the District Administration to publish the names for the FISP earlier to ensure timely communication with farmers under this program.
The event was attended by UPND party officials and other district government heads.
