Chipoka Mulenga hands over 500 desks to his constituency

Chingola Constituency Member of parliament Chipoka Mulenga has officially handed over 500 desks to be distributed in 10 Government schools in his constituency Under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Speaking during the official handover at Chingola Combined School, Mr. Mulenga said that out of the 500 desks 150 were bought using his personal funds pocket as a way of supplementing Government’s effort towards the Education sector.

He also said free education has given an opportunity to local entrepreneurs like carpenters who are making desks and supplying to schools.

Mr. Mulenga who is also Trade and Commerce Minister said apart from free education government want to empower more people with skills like carpentry, plumbing, welding and other skills from CDF.

He said Government will not segregate anyone and will ensure everyone benefits from CDF via skills training and equipping them.

Mr. Mulenga said the making of desks will continue happening until schools have enough for all the children to be learning in a decent environment.

He said that 14 class room blocks have been constructed since he became MP to facilitate for more pupils.

Mr. Mulenga has however cautioned pupils who have received the desks to guard them jealously.

The MP also thanked the team that has been effective and efficient to implement the Desk project.

And Chingola District Education Secretary Noah Simalunga said that desks are an important component of education which is the driver for the quality education.

Mr. Simalunga thanked Government for the continued support toward the education sector.

And Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe said as the local authority they wish to turn Chingola into a city so it is important that the schools are well equipped.
