Chipata Mayor, Sinoya Mwale has warned car wash operators, who have turned their facilities into beer drinking centres, that they risk losing their licences.
Mr Mwale has observed that some car wash operators are defying the mandatory closure of bars and night clubs, by allowing people to drink alcohol from their premises.
Speaking in at a media briefing, Mr Mwale said the council will not hesitate to revoke licences for car wash operators, who will be found selling beer.
Meanwhile, Mr Mwale said the local authority is struggling to secure land for a new grave yard in the city.
He disclosed that the Saint Anne cemetery has allegedly run out of burial space, and the council is looking for land for a new cemetery.
