Chintu joins Pensioners

By CHINOYI CHIPULU
Super Division side Napsa Stars have appointed Kampamba Chintu as assistant coach to Mohamad Fathi.

Chintu, the 2012 Africa Cup winner, on Thursday parted ways with his boyhood club Kabwe Warriors where he served as assistant to Levy ‘Chabby’ Chabala on mutual consent.

Napsa General Manager Honour Janza said in a statement issued by Media and Public Relations Officer Gewn Chipusula that the former international defender has penned a two-year deal with the Pensioners.

“The club is delighted to announce that the club has beefed up its technical bench with the inclusion of Chintu Kampamba as First Assistant coach,” said Janza, who also doubles as technical director.

He said Kampamba emerged successful out of the four candidates that were interviewed for the second highest coaching role at the club.

Chintu has vast experience in that role of assistant having worked at Power Dynamos and Warriors before.

The arrival of Chintu means that Fathi now has Geoffrey Hamakwende, Dornwell Yobe and Lameck Nyangu as second assistant, physical trainer and goalkeeper coach respectively.

“We are thrilled that Kampamba has joined our coaching staff as First Assistant coach. We believe he has an outstanding ability to forge relationships with players and help improve their skills. We have no doubt that he is going to be a great asset .” he said.

Chintu has already hit the ground running at Napsa and has travelled with the team to Choma ahead of the Week 15 encounter slated for Independence Stadium tomorrow.
