Chingola’s escaping inmates have up to tomorrow to save themselves

Chingola Magistrate court has ordered two of the eight inmates that escaped lawful custody following a misunderstanding in the proceedings to present themselves tomorrow December 24, 2019 or risk arrest.

Appearing before Magistrate Stephen Maona were two William Kasema 26, and Felix Kasema 24, both on police bond were told to present their friends tomorrow or the court will record that they escaped from lawful custody.

“If you didn’t understand what the court had told you on Friday you couldn’t have recited exactly what I said. You said that I told you that you heard that you should go and reconcile with the complainant and if we fail to reconcile then come back on Monday for ruling,” he said.

He told them that he will issue an arrest warrant if they don’t present themselves to the court in the morning tomorrow December 24, 2019.

The case was scheduled for ruling.

The eight were all facing the offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

When the matter came up for plea, the complainant withdrew the matter and Magistrate Mr Maona adjourned the matter to day Monday December 23, 2019 for ruling.

According to the Prosecutor one of the accused has been apprehended and is in police custody.

Those that escaped are Lucky Mutale 29, of House Number 65 Andrew Mwenya Road, Amon Shila 28, of 35 Chiwempala Road, Moses Kunda 23, and Agrippa Nkandu 19 of 54 Andrew Mwenya Road.

Others are Maxwell Mulenga 26, of “R” Section and Oscar Sanga 29 of 21 Luangwa Road in Kasompe all of Chingola.
The Court has adjoined the matter to December 24 2019 to hear the fact of what head was if they were told to go and possible ruling.
