A woman of Kayowelo B in Chingola’s Muchinshi area believed to be in her 60s has been struck to death by lightning.

Melisilina Mwape was struck by lightning on November 7, 2021 around 15:00 hours.

Speaking at the funeral house, Chingola District Commissioner Raphael Chimupi said it is unfortunate to lose citizens to such circumstances.

Mr Chimupi encouraged the bereaved family to seek God’s comfort.

And Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe who also visited the funeral house expressed sadness over the death of Ms Mwape.

And Muchinshi Ward Councillor Moses Kaputunga said that the body of Ms Mwape at the time of the visit was kept at the funeral house due to lack of a proper mortuary facility in the ward.

Mr Kaputunga has since appealed to the Local Authority to ensure that a mortuary is accorded to the ward.

And in response Chingola Mayor assured residents in Muchinshi ward that a better mortuary facility will be constructed in area.
