Chingola Member of Parliament Chipoka Mulenga has condemned the unscrupulous people who are involved in counterfeit fertilizer in Chingola.
He assured the public that government is supplying right fertilizer therefore they should be wary and be concern of where they are buying the products.
Speaking when he visited the scene of crime in Chingola Mr Mulenga expressed sadness that unscrupulous people are taking fertilizer and mixing it with sand and sell to the public.
“I commend the officers in Chingola to burst this scam and whoever is involved in this punishable offence should be brought to book, ” he said.
Mr. Mulenga has assured farmers in Chingola that fertilizer which is coming under Farmers Input Support Program (FISP) is well tested and proven to be the best.
He said the fertilizer that Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ) is producing is of high standard and high quality.
“I want to send a clear warning to criminals and criminal activities that are happening especially here in my constituency this will not be allowed,’ he said.
Meanwhile, Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe said they are not going to allow such act especially being a lodge, he also instructed the public health to check if they have paid trading payment to the Council.
And Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell confimed the development that Police in Chingola have arrested 10 people among them two women for allegedly dealing in counterfeit fertilizer.
