A 36-year old woman of Chingola has killed her son who she suspected of having stolen a digital camera.
Mercy Mweemba with the help of her husband Cholwe Mulwanji 40, both
of Munjomba area in Chingola’s Lulamba Township killed her son who she suspected of stealing a camera which was taken for repair at their home.
Copperbelt Police Chief Charity Katanga said Mercy did beat up her son Hastings Hankwaya 17, of the same house using a metal bar, wire and a belt.
Ms Katanga said Hastings sustained a fatal injuries among them bruised forehead, deep cut on the head and swollen legs.
She said the incidence happened between January 25, at 21:00hrs and January 26, 2019 at 02:30hrs at house in Mujomba area in lulamba township.
“Mercy and husband who is a step father to Hastings handed themslves in at Lulamba Police Post and are in custody at Chiwempala Police Station charged with murder,” she said.
“The suspects are currently is in police custody while the body of the Hastings is in Nchanga North General Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem,” she said.
