Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe, also Vice President of the Copperbelt Chapter of the Local Government Association, praised the New Dawn government’s tangible achievements.
He highlighted the significant improvements in local authorities’ work, citing increased minimum wages for casual council workers from K850 to K2300.
“When we took office, council workers were in arrears, and the council was indebted to various institutions,” Mayor Kang’ombe explained. “However, due to President Hakainde Hichilema’s exemplary leadership, the local authority has made remarkable progress.”
Speaking on Shekinah FM radio, Mayor Kang’ombe emphasized the importance of acknowledging the government’s positive accomplishments. “I speak from experience, and we must recognize the good work being done by this government and President,” he said.
He noted that critics of the government are primarily from the opposition, whose role is to provide constructive criticism. Mayor Kang’ombe expressed confidence that the cost of living would be addressed in due course.
Regarding his future plans, Mayor Kang’omb e expressed his willingness to return as Mayor of Chingola District, citing his commitment to serving the community.
