Chingola Council to renovate 8 idle parks

Chingola Town Clerk Kabombo Mutakela says the council will renovate eight idle parks in the district of Chingola.

Speaking in an interview Mr Mutakela said Council management had conducted a tour to some of the Council play parks with a view of identifying available idle ones.

He said the purposes was to renovate them in order to establish modern children play parks as a way to improve on the recreation facilities of the residents of Chingola.

The parks identified and available for renovation works included; Nampundwe Park  along President Avenue, Mwelu Crescent along Kanjala road,  Kanjala Crescent Park along Kanjala road, Nile Park along Nile road, Mwengele Park in Kabundi South, Freedom Park along Kitwe road, Muleya Park along Muleya road  and The Close Park along the Close road.

“Plans are that, the identified areas shall be fenced off immediately to secure the premises from illegal encroachments and later development of the same parks which have been incorporated in the 2019- 2021 budget.

“We have budgeted K198, 400 for The Close Park, K495, 236.43 for the Freedom Park, K208, 637.60 for Chimutunga Park, K323, 000 for the Nampundu Park, K476, 261.20 for the Mwengele Park I, Mwengele Park II gobbles K413, 528.40 and Mwengele Park III gets KK385, 250.

“Management has also taken deliberate steps to examine all the remaining tenancy agreements for other play parks in order to resolve a number of cases with a view to take over the same parks. Once that is concluded such matters will be reported to Council for appropriate action,” he said.
