Chingola Council to construct Modern market shelters

Chingola Municipal Council has awarded contracts to four Local Contractors for the construction of modern Market shelters, ablution block and a Police Post.

Chingola Town Clerk (TC) Kabombo Mutakela said that the construction of the markets shelters would enable marketeers to trade in a conducive environment which is safe for them.

Mr Mutakela said that this would also prevent marketeers from been soaked during rainy season because they is no cleanness in trading while soaking.

He said that all Contactors who have been awarded contracts have been awarded on merits and not on past performance.

The TC said that the projects which would last for 16 weeks from the time contractors goes on site have been fully funded under Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and the 2018 budget and the funds are ready.

Mr Mutakela has urged contractors to do a good job.

He told councilors not to interfere with the works in the wards but just report to the engineers if they see some mistakes.

And Kapisha ward Councillor Davies Mulenga expressed gratitude toward this gesture saying that his people will benefit from these projects.

The company’s which have been awarded contracts are J Sapwe Construction to construct a modern Market shelter at Mupopo Market worth K309,589.00, Mwakabonga Investment also a market shelter worth K317,081.00, Demas company Limited constructing a Police Post in Chikola at K433,665.
