Chingola Council, local firms ink construction deal

Chingola Municipal Council has signed contracts with four Local Contractors for the construction of an ablution block, class room blocks and a VIP toilet.

All the four projects are funded under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF.

Chingola Town Clerk Kabombo Mutakela urged contractors to build the capacity of their companies.
Mr Mutakela has warned the contractors to desist from the behavior of squandering advance payments before they do the job.

He said advanced payment is not meant for sharing among Directors of the company.
“This is not profit but borrowed money for the company to start the project. Zambian contractors need to work hard to be given other big contracts.

“If they fail to deliver on small jobs but start sharing money then it is a problem. We want to see things to be done fast,” he said.

He said the Council has entrust the projects to local firms to do a good job for the people of Chingola.
The Town Clerk said the council wants to bring markets to standard levels, hence the construction of the ablution blocks and the toilet.
The company’s which have been awarded contracts are Chidom General Dealers to construct an ablution block at Chilembe market at K493, 850.51 to be done in twelve weeks.

Manroch Zambia Limited to construct a 1×3 classroom block at Kings Area in Gymkhana at a cost of 316,454.00 also to be done in 20 weeks.

Dennfin Solutions also to construct a 1×2 classroom block at Kafibale primary school in Kapisha at K146, 180, 00, 20 weeks.

Others are Oriental Products Limited mandated with the construction of a double VIP toilet at Soweto Market at a cost of K33, 927.80 to be done in 12 weeks.
