Chingola Municipal Council has started the grading of feeder roads in the district to make them passable.
The Council started with Chingola Central and now they have moved to Musenga.
Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo who inspected the works yesterday said that the Council wants to make the roads passable especially in farming areas.
Mr Tembo said that this would improve accessibility to the market in transporting farm produce.
He said the Council had put in the 2018 budget to grade feeder roads and the exercise started in April with Chingola central now moved to Musenga.
“This is just phase one we have noticed that most of the roads have are very old and they need a face lift so phase 2 as we get resource we will bring in liter lite so that they are compacted to last a long time,” he said.
Mr Tembo has urged residence to take ownership and police this works as they are been done at a high cost.
“They has been a tendency of removing sand and liter light from the roads those found wanting will be prosecuted.
“From here we moving to Ipafu and kalilo we have plans to hire another grader because we only have one grader, so that one can operate in Nchanga and Chingola constituencies respectively,” he said.
He has appeared to resident to be patient as the roads are been done.
The Mayor said the Council will also be doing bridges as most feeder roads needs bridges the only constrain maybe finances.
Mr Tembo has called on residents to comply in paying rates and other licenses so that this money may be ploughed back to the community.
