Chingola Municipal Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of General Education have disinfected 84 schools around the district both government and private.
CMC Public Relations Officer Believe Chisanga said the mass disinfection was conducted as a preventative measure against the spread of COVID-19.
Ms Chisanga said the three stakeholders worked hand in hand to ensure safety of both learners and teachers as they continue with education under the New Normal.
She said school management should note that the mass disinfection does not mean that learners and teachers should abstain from adhering to the five golden rules for COVID-19.
Ms Chisanga said the mass disinfection is only meant to supplement the aforesaid golden rules.
She has urged schools to periodically disinfect contact surfaces such as door handles, tables and chairs.
