Chingola Municipal Council has given the green light to a proposed budget of K236,413,645 for the 2025 financial year, representing a 20% increase from the 2024 budget of K189,724,707.
This significant boost is expected to strengthen the economy, improve public services, and invest in the long-term wellbeing of Chingola’s citizens.
According to Jeff Musonda, Chairperson of the Finance, Valuation, and Commercial Undertaking Committee, the budget will be allocated towards various projects, including 12 capital projects valued at K22,807,000.
Mr Musonda said these initiatives will be funded through local generated funds, local government equalization funds, and increased constituency development funds.
He said the Ward Development Fund (WDF) will also play a crucial role in allocating resources to critical infrastructure, education, healthcare, and social services.
“This comprehensive approach aims to improve the quality of life for all residents in Chingola,” he said.
Councillors Kasompe Ward’s Martin Lombe and Nchanga Ward’s Siluyele commended the teamwork and collaboration that went into crafting the budget, highlighting the importance of unity in driving progress.
