Chingola Community Development officer nabbed for theft

A-Community Development Officer of Chingola is alleged to have stolen K213,571 by virtue of her position as in-charge of food security pack Recoveries.

The Police have instituted investigations in the matter were Elizabeth Chibale a community Development assistant officer in charge of Munsenga sub-center is alleged to have stolen money contributed by members.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said brief facts of the  matter are that between July 2022 and November 2022, Chibale was appointed as District Community Development Assistant Officer in charge of Munsenga sub-center where they had a food security pack program.

Mr Mweemba said the community welfare assistance committee members were taking the contributions collected from members to the bank, but they were advised to take the money to the same officer who said she was to deposit in the government account.

He said on November 21, 2022, when the community welfare assistance committee members (CWAC) from different groups had a meeting, it was discovered that the Officer was not depositing the money that members contributed.

“Upon discovering that, the matter was reported to the District Development community officer, and later, reported to the police. A docket of the case has been opened and investigations instituted into the matter. The suspect has not yet been arrested,” he said.
