The communities matched from 1 Central to the National Assembly office for Nchanga Constituency where they were addressed by Nchanga Member of Parliament Chali Chilombo.

One of the wives of the miners of Chililabombwe Florence Kaunda said the case of Vedanta must be adjudicated in Zambia and not in South.

Ms Kaunda said copper is being mined in Zambia and the residents are the ones who has felt the dubious and cruel behaviour of Vedanta.

Elisa Mhone from the ex-miners association said the residents were disappointed because Vedanta was claiming to be making a loss thereby making many employees lose jobs.

Mr Mhone wondered why Vedanta is still interested in Konkola Copper Mines which is non- profitable.

He said the residents will use any means possible that will bring results rather than meandering with court processes.

And Mr Chilombo said Vedanta had run out of lies and his deceit of saying KCM was none profitable has caught up with him.

He said President Edgar Lungu and his Government had initiated a divorce which all residents are sure will bring results.

“The Liquidator has started paying the debts to suppliers and contractors, meaning we are on course with the process. I have heard from you that whatever the outcome from the court, residents of Chingola and Chililabombwe do not want Vedanta back at KCM,” he said.
