Chingola Mayor Johnson Kangombe has highlighted significant developmental milestones achieved in the growing town.
Mr Kang’ombe underscored the Development during the 2024 first quarter Full Council Meeting, a series of accomplishments marking progress and transformation within the community.
Among the notable achievements, was the successful implementation of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in the district, the Farmer Input Support Programme for the 2023/24 Farming Season, aimed at bolstering agricultural productivity and supporting local farmers.
Others are the efforts in providing emergency and social cash transfers, particularly in mitigating the impact of the recent drought that has plagued the nation’s agricultural sector.
He also applauded initiatives such as decentralization efforts, recent disbursements of CEEC vehicles under the Presidential Component, and the substantial increment in Councilor emoluments, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing local governance and welfare.
Mr Kangombe expressed gratitude toward Government for the support and collaborative efforts in driving progress and addressing pressing issues affecting Chingola and its residents.
In response to the ongoing drought situation, the Mayor urged for budget realignment to effectively address the challenges posed by environmental factors, showcasing proactive measures in adapting to changing circumstances and ensuring the well-being of the community.
He said the collective efforts of the Councillors signify the commitment to realizing the town’s potential and improving the quality of life for its residents.
