Chingola businesses need bailout from govt-Gardner

Chingola Chamber of Commerce and Industry First Vice President Emmanuel Gardner has called on government to provide a bailout package for Chingola businesses.

Mr Gardner said business in Chingola has gone through some harsh periods in the last couple of years.

He said if government was in the position to offer interest free loans to local businesses, then it would have worked out well for businessmen.

Mr Gardner said the chamber wish to implore government to consider a complete write off of all outstanding penalties and interest across all regulatory bodies.

He said this would save businesses and a bit of funds to reinvest in business.

Mr Gardner said Government should also consider declaring Chingola a tax free zone for a period of two years.

He said business in Chingola urgently needs some form of bailout package.

Mr Gardner has commended business owners whose business still standing for being resilient and focused.

“Chingola has had a fair share of the turbulence, beginning with delayed Payments, gassing, mob instant justice, now the dreadful Corona virus. We don’t seem to be getting out of troubled waters. Businesses have continued to suffer in the district to an extent of many closing down,” he said.
